The warm weather months are fast approaching. Right now is a great time to start
prepping for your first fishing trip of the summer. Both Oregon and Idaho offer annual
free fishing days. These are a great opportunity for both children and adults to learn the
basics of fishing and for individuals and families to fish for free at any of the states’
ponds or lakes.
The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife will offer a Free Fishing Weekend June

what the state has to offer to make your fishing experiences great.
Fishing is a phenomenal activity that can be both relaxing and exhilarating at the same
time. And what activity wouldn’t be complete without a little bit of boredom and
frustration mixed in for good measure. But all that makes this sport what it is…fun.

1 1/2 pounds salmon fillets
lemon pepper to taste
garlic powder to taste
salt to taste
1/3 cup soy sauce
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup water
1/4 cup vegetable oil

Season salmon fillets with lemon pepper, garlic powder, and salt.
1. In a small bowl, stir together soy sauce, brown sugar, water, and vegetable oil until sugar is dissolved. Place fish in a large resealable plastic bag with the soy sauce mixture, seal, and turn to coat. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
2. Preheat grill for medium heat.
3. Lightly oil grill grate. Place salmon on the preheated grill, and discard marinade. Cook salmon for 6 to 8 minutes per side, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
